Woah!

Okay. I have been on an extreme hiatus from posting new guitar lessons. I have taken a very long sabbatical. lol. This time I have taken off from music has really allowed me to reflect on a couple of things. More importantly, I think, given me an opportunity to explore other genres of music, literature, ideologies, etc. that will end up contributing to the EP i'm working. I have not forgotten about the EP.

I was going to do a cover EP but decided to take another direction on the worship songs. The EP will have more of an acoustical taste to it. Recently I have been writing a couple of songs with that acoustical taste to it. I have been inspired by listening to Chelsea Williams and Brooke Fraser recently. I have been listening to alot of their music lately and hence the reason for my music coming out more acoustical.

I guess part of the long hiatus or "sabbatical" has been due to the change in majors. At the moment I am taking a break from my regular studies in music and taken a new career path which has been completely unexpected and surprising to me. I am now studying to be a Medical Assistant and will probably continue to get my degree as an R.N. Nonetheless music is a big part of my life and I will get back to studying to get my doctorate in music. Anything is possible when we put our minds to it.

Anywho. Still working on the music. Enough of this vacation. Time to get back to work. Music is the greatest job in my opinion. lol. Both writing and teaching music. =)

Guitar Lessons!

For a while now I've been wanting to start up a project, well not a project, but have been wanting to do a series of videos and upload them on to YouTube. Well I have begun! lol. I have been wanting to do a video series giving guitar lessons. Once a week I will be trying to upload videos giving guitar lessons. Absolutely free.

The first video is now up. In the first lesson we take a look at some types of guitars and the parts of a guitar. I think it is very important for a musician to know their instrument, to at least know the basic parts of what makes their instrument what it is.

For those of you out here in myspace cyberworld and would like to learn how to play guitar the videos will be available to you. In the videos we will be covering music notation and things like that. There will be exercises for you to practice and also sight reading exercises. This should be fun.

You can find the videos on my channel:
http://www.youtube.com/sonianv

You can also find the videos on:
http://sonianvguitar.blogspot.com

On blogger you'll find the youtube video and the text version of the lessons. In the future I will be using blogger along with youtube to make the sheet music available.

I hope you guys enjoy the lessons. If you have any questions on the videos about things I didn't cover or didn't make so clear on the videos just comment me or send me a message and I will be more than glad to help you out.

Enjoy! =)

Finally!

I have internet at home once again. Lol.

Okay so I have been writing new songs. They have more of an acoustical feel to it but I like it and hope you all like it to. In about a month I'm going to set up a short sample of two of the songs I have been working on. It will a couple of seconds not a long sample.

I wrote a congregational song that I presented to one of the worship leaders, mainly cause he asked if I'd written anything that we could use. Lol. I personally was too shy to present but since he asked and was waiting for me to come up with something so we could practice it I presented "La Victoria A Llegado." We have played it a couple of times at church and it has gotten a good response so I am glad. More than anything glad because it leads people into worship. I am going to try and record it next time we play it at church and set it up here.

Last year I wrote a christmas song and am now working on aligning tracks and show a rough demo to my friend of the song and see what he thinks since it was his idea for me to write one. Not that I hadn't thought of writing one before but it was his idea for me to do one last year. lol. Hopefully I will not procrastinate, which I'm not, I'm prophesing that I'm not, and it will be ready this year.

So I'm at work on my music. Also back in school and learning more about music engineering and production. Loving it. Even more closer to my goal of my home studio. I have a mini set up in my room but will be clearing and taking some things out of the living room and will be setting up the "big" not "mini" equipment up. That's the last step in accomplishing my goal. All I need is to buy one of those storage houses to put all the stuff in and we're good to go. =)

Alright, more updates to come later on.
